Siblings of the Cape

The film revolves around two siblings living together on the margins of society, exploring the dark side of disabled people struggling in society that not everyone knows about. The older brother Yoshio, who is disabled in one leg, and his younger sister Mariko, who is mentally disabled (retarded), live together in a port village. One day, Mariko leaves home, and when Yoshio tries to find her, he receives a call from a fisherman. When Mariko returns home under the protection of that fisherman, Yoshio discovers a 10,000 yen bill in her pocket. Yoshio is out of work at this time, so he does the unthinkable: sells his sister to get money to buy food and pay the rent.
